Notes: The MJQ lived from 1952 through 1974 and produced a marvelous body of work. The clever hands of Milt Jackson dancing over the vibes always makes me smile. Their taste, style and wide range of material never fails to entertain and teach at the same time. The addition of a symphony orchestra for these final sessions adds depth without losing the feel of the quartet. Listening to this record while dressed in my old T-shirt and ripped shorts, I feel terribly underdressed. While a tux and tails may not be required they wouldn't be out of place. Fabulous music. And the cover illustration and the design itself is a classy exit from a class act. Anything by the MJQ is worth a listen or two.
